Chiropractic Care

Dr. Cathy adjusts young boyThe chiropractic approach to healthcare is holistic – meaning we address your overall health and wellness.

We recognize that many lifestyle factors such as diet, sleep, exercise and environment impact our health. Therefore, many chiropractors will recommend lifestyle changes in eating, exercise and sleep habits in addition to chiropractic care.

Chiropractic is much more than simply a way to relieve pain. Ultimately we are trying to restore the body to its optimal level of health.

Chiropractic is focused on the diagnosis, treatment and preventions of disorders of the neuromusculoskeletal system and the effects these disorders can have on a person’s overall health.

Precise Techniques to Suit Your Needs

We use techniques that are gentle and effective for all ages. Dr. Cathy has Thompson tables that use a drop piece, making the adjustment specific and comfortable for the patient. She also uses the Activator®, which is an instrument that is ideal for nearly anyone.

Pregnant moms will be comfortable on specialized cushions that allow them to lie facedown. Dr. Cathy is also trained in Webster Technique and Diversified Technique.

People choose chiropractic care for a wide variety of health and wellness reasons. Chiropractic is a specialized approach designed to release tension from the spinal nerves and help the entire spine and nervous system function optimally. If pain or symptoms are what brought you in, we will begin to address those issues while we investigate the underlying causes.

Our main focus in this office is to understand how day-to-day stresses have begun to change your spine and your health. Everyone manages a different amount of stress in their lives. If accidents, injuries, chronic emotional tension or even diets or medications are part of your life history, then there is a chance that these stresses have begun to affect your entire nervous system. The nerves that connect the brain to the body travel through the spinal column. The spine itself is a common place for stress to affect the muscles and the joints. Over time this can lead to many back and neck related problems. However, our greatest concern is when those stresses settle deeper within the nerves themselves. When this occurs, your health can be affected as well as your spine.

Before giving you an adjustment, you’ll have a thorough examination and go through the results with Dr. Cathy so that you know exactly what to expect. We’ll walk you through the adjustment before proceeding. Less than 10% of people feel sore after the adjustment, which is completely normal. Most people rise from the adjusting table and say, “Is that all there is to it?” and are surprised they ever felt concerned.

Why Focus on the Nervous System?

As a chiropractor, Dr. Cathy works to optimize the function of your nervous system. You can think of this master control system like the wires that run through your house. The nerves in your body come from the brain and go out to every cell, tissue, and organ in the body. If we dimmed the lights in the house, they would still be on but not full intensity.

Similarly, if a problem exists in your nervous system, it may be still functioning, but not optimally and not at full potential. Instead of treating only a specific symptom, we address the nervous system, which sets up the rest of the body for incredible health.
